On November 8, 2023 they had awesome participation from local businesses in the first ever Santa Parade in more than 3 decades. Certificates and prizes were presented to First place winners Scouts Canada (Millet), with McConnell Building Movers winning second place. In addition, the Lions were presented with $300 to use towards Christmas hampers. Thank you to all of the businesses that helped fund the event by way of donations and prizes and gifts in kind.
The Association is launching their first edition of a community Newsletter this month, which will be available in print at local businesses, and online. Each month the publication will highlight a local business. In this premier edition we celebrate Heather’s Hair Design, the longest running, Female owned and operated business in Millet. Heather (Iverson) has been living in Millet for the last 36 years and has been operating her salon here for 35 years, and has been in the current location for about 20 years. She attributes her long term success to having great clients who have become friends over the years. Her very first client in Millet remained her client up until recently, upon the ladies passing. In addition to operating in Millet on Tuesdays and Fridays, she also cuts hair at a Seniors’ home in Wetaskiwin on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Membership in the Millet Business Association is FREE, and offers businesses the chance to connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate on initiatives for community benefit. Whether established or budding, all businesses are encouraged to join and contribute their expertise.
In early November 2023 the association launched it’s new Member website www.milletbusinessassociation.ca, and continues to engage with member businesses on Facebook.
We encourage businesses from Millet and its surrounding areas, including Leduc, Wetaskiwin and Pigeon Lake, to become part of the Millet Business Association and witness the power of unity in driving economic prosperity and community development. Together, we can make a lasting impact and continue to build a vibrant business community in Millet, Alberta.
